The Faraday 8900 Ionization Smoke Detector operates on the ionization principle. Additionally, the detectors respond to the first traces of fire in the form of visible smoke or invisible products of combustion. Also, the 8900 have been developing for the wide range of commercial, industrial and institutional fire detection and extinguishing applications.
However the 8900 consists of self-compensating, dual ionization chambers, and a highly stable, solid-state amplifier-switching circuit. Eve one chamber detects the presence of combustion products, the second chamber serves as a reference, to stabilize the detector’s sensitivity for changes in environmental conditions. Therefore as products of combustion enter the experiment changer, the chamber current is reduce to produce a voltage change. At the time, the voltage range pass the pre-determine threshold, an alarm is flash to the control unit. The detector locks in upon alarm and will reset from the control panel.

The 8900 detectors are design for open area protection in areas with air velocities up to 300 feet per minute.
