Description

The Edwards SIGA2-HRS is a rate-of-rise heat detector designed for commercial addressable fire alarm systems. It monitors changes in surrounding air temperature and initiates an alarm when the temperature rises at approximately 15°F (9°C) per minute, providing rapid detection of fast-developing fire conditions.

Part of the Edwards Signature Series, the SIGA2-HRS incorporates onboard microprocessor technology for processing, self-diagnostics, automatic device mapping, stand-alone operation, and fast communication with compatible fire alarm control equipment.

Heat Detection Performance

The SIGA2-HRS uses an electronic thermal sensor to continuously monitor surrounding air temperature. Its rate-of-rise alarm point is approximately 15°F (9°C) per minute, allowing the detector to respond rapidly when temperatures increase quickly during a developing fire.

The detector is intended primarily for property protection and should be applied according to the approved system design and applicable fire alarm requirements. Edwards documentation specifies maximum spacing of up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) on centers, subject to installation conditions and code requirements.


Communication

The SIGA2-HRS incorporates an onboard microprocessor that analyzes detector information and communicates status to compatible Edwards Signature Series fire alarm equipment. This processing allows the detector to provide individual point identification rather than functioning only as a conventional zone device.

Automatic Device Mapping assists with system commissioning by helping identify the physical arrangement of Signature devices on the signaling circuit. The detector also supports self-diagnostics and history logging for improved maintenance and troubleshooting.

The detector incorporates a bi-color green and red LED for visual operating status. The indicator provides convenient confirmation of normal communication and alarm conditions, assisting technicians during system inspection, testing, and troubleshooting.

Available base options include standard, relay, fault-isolator, and audible base configurations, allowing the detector installation to be adapted to different system requirements.
