Description
Mircom MIX-2251APA Intelligent Photoelectric Smoke Sensor
The Mircom MIX-2251APA is a low-profile, plug-in, addressable smoke detection sensor combining a photoelectric sensing chamber with analog communications. It’s designed for modern intelligent fire alarm systems, delivering smoke density readings to the control panel rather than simply a binary alarm state.
As part of Mircom’s Advanced Protocol (AP) line, the MIX-2251APA supports high-speed communication and also offers backwards compatibility with legacy CLIP (Classic Loop Interface Protocol) systems.
Key Features & Benefits
-
Photoelectric Smoke Detection
Uses a modern optical sensing chamber to respond sensitively to smoke particles from smoldering fires. -
Addressable / Analog Output
Transmits an analog representation of smoke density over the communication line, enabling more precise control and also diagnostics. -
Rotary Addressing
Features decade (rotary) switches allowing device addresses between 01–159 in AP mode (and 01–99 when in CLIP mode) for precise location identification. -
Dual LEDs
Two onboard LEDs indicate communication status (blink) and steady light during alarm conditions, facilitating visual feedback at the sensor. -
Low Standby Current
Very low draw during quiescent periods, contributing to energy efficiency and extended backup battery life. -
Tamper-Resistant Feature
The sensor includes a tamper-resistant design to prevent unauthorized removal from its base without a tool. -
Sealed Against Dirt / Insects / Back Pressure
The sensing chamber is designed to limit nuisance triggers from contaminants while maintaining reliable sensitivity over time. -
Compatibility with Heat Option Models
In the same series, models MIX-2251TAPA and MIX-2251TMAPA integrate a 135 °F (57.2 °C) fixed-temperature heat detector with the photoelectric sensing.
