The Notifier FSP-951-IV is an intelligent addressable smoke detector designed to provide dependable early warning fire detection in commercial fire alarm systems. It uses advanced optical sensing technology to detect smoke from a broad range of developing fire conditions while continuously communicating detector status to a compatible Notifier fire alarm control panel.
The IV designation identifies the detector’s ivory color. The FSP-951-IV combines a low-profile appearance with FlashScan intelligent communication, rotary decimal addressing, dual LED indicators, programmable sensitivity, and continuous sensitivity monitoring.
The FSP-951-IV uses an optical sensing chamber designed to provide stable response across a broad range of fire conditions. The sensing chamber continuously evaluates airborne particles entering the detector and communicates the resulting information to the fire alarm control panel.
Detector sensitivity can be programmed through compatible Notifier equipment. Continuous sensitivity monitoring allows the system to track changes in detector performance caused by dust or contamination and identify devices requiring maintenance.
The detector is designed for open-area protection in commercial indoor environments and supports air velocities up to 4,000 feet per minute.
The FSP-951-IV supports Notifier FlashScan intelligent communication. FlashScan provides rapid communication between the fire alarm control panel and intelligent field devices while maintaining individual identification of each detector.
The detector can communicate alarm, normal, trouble, and maintenance-related information to compatible Notifier control equipment. Individual point reporting allows operators to quickly identify the exact detector location involved in an event.
Built-in rotary decimal switches provide straightforward device addressing during installation.
Compatible FlashScan systems support detector addresses up to 159, allowing large numbers of intelligent devices to operate on the signaling line circuit while maintaining individual point identification.
Rotary addressing also simplifies replacement because a service technician can configure the replacement detector with the required address before placing the system back into service.
The FSP-951-IV incorporates two LEDs positioned to provide 360-degree visibility around the detector.
The LEDs provide local indication of communication and alarm status. On compatible systems, they can blink during normal polling and illuminate during an alarm condition, allowing technicians and emergency personnel to quickly identify an activated detector.
The detector also supports compatible remote LED annunciation where local detector visibility is limited.
The FSP-951-IV supports remote testing through compatible Notifier fire alarm control equipment as well as local functional testing.
Continuous sensitivity monitoring assists maintenance personnel by identifying detectors that are becoming contaminated before performance reaches an unacceptable level.
The plug-in detector head can be removed for inspection, cleaning, testing, or replacement without disturbing permanent field wiring connected to the detector base.
