Description
The System Sensor ISO-6 Six Fault Isolator Module is an intelligent signaling line circuit (SLC) isolation module designed to improve the reliability and survivability of addressable fire alarm systems. The System Sensor ISO-6 provides six independent Class B fault isolator circuits that automatically isolate short circuits on the communication loop while allowing unaffected portions of the SLC to continue operating. Therefore, it minimizes system downtime and helps maintain life safety protection during wiring faults.
System Sensor ISO-6 Function
The System Sensor ISO-6 continuously monitors each signaling line circuit for short-circuit conditions. As a result, when a wiring fault occurs, the affected circuit automatically opens and isolates the fault while allowing all remaining devices on the loop to continue normal communication. Once the short circuit is removed, the module automatically restores the isolated circuit without requiring manual intervention.
Six Independent Class B Isolator Circuits
The ISO-6 incorporates six independent fault isolation circuits, allowing multiple sections of an addressable SLC loop to be protected within a single module. Consequently, installers can reduce hardware requirements while improving overall system reliability. Moreover, the module supports up to 25 addressable devices between isolators, making it ideal for large commercial fire alarm systems.
Automatic Short Circuit Isolation
The ISO-6 functions as an automatic electronic switch that opens whenever line voltage drops below approximately 4 volts, indicating a short-circuit condition. Therefore, only the affected section of the communication loop is isolated while all remaining devices continue to operate normally. Furthermore, automatic restoration occurs immediately after the wiring fault has been corrected.
Individual LED Status Indicators
Each of the six isolation circuits includes an amber LED status indicator that flashes during normal operation and remains illuminated whenever a short circuit is isolated. As a result, maintenance personnel can quickly identify the location of wiring faults during troubleshooting. Additionally, removable plug-in terminal blocks simplify installation and future service.
Flexible Cabinet Mounting
The System Sensor ISO-6 is designed for cabinet installation using compatible mounting hardware. It can be installed individually or grouped within optional enclosures such as the BB-2 cabinet or BB-6 cabinet with CH-6 chassis, allowing multiple isolator modules to be housed in a single enclosure. Consequently, installers have flexibility when designing both small and large addressable fire alarm systems.
