Description

The System Sensor SS-PHOTO Intelligent Smoke Detector is an addressable photoelectric sensor designed for compatible intelligent fire alarm control panels. Its redesigned optical sensing chamber detects smoke from a broad range of combustion sources, while analog communication allows the control panel to continuously evaluate smoke density and detector sensitivity.

The SS-PHOTO supports SS, LiteSpeed, and SK protocol systems and provides individual Point ID identification through rotary address switches.

Photoelectric Smoke Detection

The SS-PHOTO uses an advanced photoelectric optical sensing chamber engineered to detect smoke generated by a wide range of combustion sources.

The sensor complies with the more stringent detection requirements associated with UL 268 7th Edition.

Rather than functioning as a simple conventional on/off detector, the SS-PHOTO communicates an analog representation of smoke conditions to the compatible fire alarm control panel.

Intelligent Addressable Operation

Each SS-PHOTO can be individually identified by the fire alarm control system.

The detector uses rotary address switches to establish its device address, allowing the panel to associate alarms and other detector information with a specific programmed location.

This Point ID architecture simplifies alarm identification, system testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Open Area: 2.86–5.0%/ft

Special Application: 0.5–2.86%/ft.

Detector sensitivity is continually monitored and reported to the compatible fire alarm control panel.

LED Status Indication

The SS-PHOTO incorporates dual LEDs for 360-degree status visibility.

Published operation includes:

Normal Communication: Green LED blink

Alarm: Red LED steady

Additional Status: Amber LED indication.

The exact LED behavior can depend on the connected fire alarm control panel and system programming.

Duct Applications

The SS-PHOTO is listed for both open-area and applicable duct smoke detection applications.

B224RB: Relay base

B224BI: Isolator base.
