Description
The Edwards SIGA-MCC1S Synchronization Output Module is an intelligent addressable output module designed to connect a supervised signal circuit to a compatible power riser when commanded by an Edwards Signature loop controller. It is primarily used to provide synchronized operation of compatible notification appliances, including Edwards Genesis strobes.
The SIGA-MCC1S is the UIO plug-in version of the SIGA-CC1S. Both provide the same basic synchronization functionality, but the MCC1S mounts directly onto compatible Edwards UIO motherboards for centralized module installations.

Synchronization Output Operation
The primary purpose of the SIGA-MCC1S is to provide a synchronized notification output.
When commanded by the Signature loop controller, the module connects its supervised output circuit to the appropriate riser input. Compatible notification appliances connected to the output can then operate in a coordinated synchronized pattern.
Edwards specifically lists the SIGA-MCC1S as a synchronization source for compatible Genesis notification appliances.
Class B Output Circuit
The SIGA-MCC1S provides:
Output Configuration: Class B
Riser Inputs: One
Output Circuits: One.
The output circuit is supervised for both:
Open-circuit conditions
and
Short-circuit conditions.
If the module detects a short circuit, the fire alarm control panel inhibits activation of the output so the riser is not connected directly to the wiring fault.
Strobe Synchronization
The SIGA-MCC1S can function as a recognized synchronization source for compatible Edwards Genesis strobes.
Synchronization coordinates multiple visual appliances so their flashes occur together rather than independently. Edwards documentation for Genesis notification products specifically lists:
SIGA-MCC1S — Synchronization Output Module (Plug-in UIO)
as a compatible synchronization source.
24 VDC Signal Applications
Personality Code 5 allows the module to operate as a selector for:
Polarized 24 VDC audible/visible signal power.
This configuration allows compatible horns, strobes, and other notification appliances to be connected to the supervised output circuit.
Published module information identifies:
Output Rating: 2 A at 24 VDC signal power.
Actual notification-appliance loading must remain within both the module rating and the requirements of the connected riser and fire alarm system.
Audio Evacuation Operation
The SIGA-MCC1S can also be configured for emergency audio applications.
Supported audio risers include:
25 VRMS
70 VRMS.
This allows the module to connect a supervised Class B output circuit to compatible emergency voice/alarm communication system audio power.
Firefighter Telephone Operation
The SIGA-MCC1S architecture also supports firefighter telephone applications through its selectable personality configurations.
The selected personality determines whether the module operates with signal power, audio evacuation, or telephone functions.
This allows the same basic module hardware to perform different supervised output functions according to system programming.
Personality Codes
Operation of the SIGA-MCC1S is determined by its downloaded Personality Code.
For example:
Personality Code 5 — Signal Power or Audio Evacuation, Single Riser
This configures the module for a Class B 24 VDC audible/visible signal circuit or a 25/70 VRMS audio evacuation circuit.
The personality code is selected during system configuration and downloaded from the compatible Signature loop controller.
Electronic Addressing
The SIGA-MCC1S is an intelligent addressable Signature Series module.
Rather than relying on conventional mechanical address switches, the module is electronically addressed through compatible Edwards control equipment.
This allows the fire alarm system to identify, supervise, and control the module as an individual Signature device.
UIO Motherboard Operation
The SIGA-MCC1S is specifically designed for UIO plug-in mounting.
Edwards offers two- and six-position UIO motherboards capable of accommodating multiple Signature modules. Depending on the motherboard configuration, modules can use individual risers or share risers with other installed modules.
All field wiring terminates on the UIO motherboard rather than directly on the SIGA-MCC1S.
SIGA-MCC1S vs. SIGA-CC1S
The two models perform essentially the same synchronization-output function but use different mounting arrangements:
SIGA-MCC1S: UIO plug-in mount
SIGA-CC1S: Standard electrical-box mount.
Edwards specifically states that the SIGA-MCC1S functions identically to the SIGA-CC1S while taking advantage of the modular UIO architecture.
The MCC1S is therefore particularly useful where several Signature interface modules are centralized in one enclosure.
