Description
The Edwards SIGA-MRM1 Riser Monitor Module is an intelligent analog addressable module in the Edwards Signature Series. Its primary purpose is to monitor the integrity and presence of voltage on fire alarm audio, power, and telephone risers. When the monitored riser voltage drops below the programmed trouble threshold, the module reports the condition to the fire alarm control panel.
The SIGA-MRM1 is the plug-in UIO motherboard version of the SIGA-RM1. Edwards states that the two devices function identically, with the primary difference being their mounting arrangement. The SIGA-MRM1 plugs into compatible UIO motherboards, making it particularly suitable for centralized installations containing multiple Signature interface modules.

Edwards’ current intelligent I/O documentation continues to list E85001-0535 — Riser Monitor Modules among its Signature Series product documentation.
Riser Monitoring
The SIGA-MRM1 continuously monitors the electrical condition of the connected riser.
Supported riser types include:
12 VDC
24 VDC
25 VAC
70 VAC
Firefighter telephone
This allows problems with critical fire alarm audio, telephone, or power distribution risers to be identified by the control system.
System Compatibility
Edwards documentation identifies the Riser Monitor Modules as part of the Signature Series intelligent processing and control platform.
Published compatibility includes:
- EST3
- EST3X
- iO Series
- Signature Loop Controller-based systems.
Installation Information
Typical SIGA-MRM1 installation includes:
- Installing a compatible UIO motherboard
- Mounting the motherboard in the appropriate enclosure
- Selecting an available module position
- Removing motherboard jumpers where required
- Installing the SIGA-MRM1
- Connecting Signature data-loop wiring
- Connecting the monitored riser
- Selecting the correct hardware-jumper position
- Selecting Personality Code 23 or 24
- Programming the module through the Signature loop controller
- Confirming electronic addressing
- Setting the desired trouble delay
- Restoring system operation
- Confirming the green polling LED
- Testing loss-of-riser detection
- Confirming the control panel reports the expected trouble condition
- Restoring the riser and confirming return to normal
Testing & Maintenance
Inspection and testing should verify:
- Module is securely installed
- UIO motherboard is properly mounted
- Field wiring is secure
- Correct riser is connected
- Correct hardware jumper position is selected
- Correct personality code is programmed
- Correct Signature address is assigned
- Green polling LED operates normally
- Riser voltage is within the required range
- Loss of riser voltage produces the expected trouble
- Programmed trouble delay operates correctly
- Fire alarm panel correctly identifies the module
- Telephone riser monitoring operates correctly where applicable
- Audio riser monitoring operates correctly where applicable
