The Siemens ABHW-4SZ is a supervised audible detector base designed for sleeping areas and other commercial life-safety applications requiring a 520 Hz low-frequency sounder. It combines a compatible Siemens fire detector mounting base with local audible notification, allowing alarm signaling to originate directly at the detector location.
When paired with compatible FD-UL detectors and Siemens fire alarm control panels, the base provides six selectable tone patterns, two volume levels, and synchronized operation across devices connected to the same loop. This product is intended exclusively for commercial fire alarm installations.
**Newer revision of ABHW-4S with enhanced compatibility for current Siemens Desigo/Cerberus systems, including synchronized operation with FD-UL detectors and support for Class A/Class B wiring configurations.
The ABHW-4SZ uses the Siemens device loop for supervision and control while receiving alarm power from a compatible regulated external power source or approved notification appliance circuit. Its external operating voltage range is 16–33 VDC.
Maximum supervisory current is 250 µA from the device loop and 1.0 mA from external power. Alarm current varies according to the selected volume level and applied voltage. Full-wave rectified power is not permitted where the installation instructions require regulated 24 VDC auxiliary power.
The ABHW-4SZ mounts to a 4-inch square electrical box with a minimum depth of 2.5 inches. A 4-inch octagonal box is not compatible with this model.
The compatible Siemens detector installs directly into the audible base, creating an integrated detector and local sounder assembly.
