Description

The Vigilant GSA-SD is a commercial duct smoke detector designed for compatible Vigilant Signature Series fire alarm systems. It continuously samples air moving through HVAC ductwork to detect smoke and help prevent combustion products from circulating throughout the protected building.

The detector combines a Signature Series smoke sensor with environmental compensation, electronic addressing, self-diagnostics, maintenance reporting, and an integral Form C alarm relay. Its compact SuperDuct design simplifies installation and servicing in confined mechanical spaces. This product is intended exclusively for commercial fire alarm installations.

Electrical & System Information

The GSA-SD operates from a compatible Vigilant Signature Data Circuit at 15.2–19.95 VDC. It uses electronic addressing and communicates alarm, trouble, maintenance, and operating information directly to the compatible Signature Loop Controller.

An unsupervised, power-limited Form C alarm relay is provided for controlling HVAC equipment or other approved auxiliary functions. The detector also supports a remote test station or remote alarm LED when required by the installation.

Mounting & Design

The GSA-SD mounts directly to HVAC ductwork and uses a separately ordered sampling tube selected according to duct width. The sampling tube can be installed from either side of the assembly and rotated in 45-degree increments to align the inlet holes correctly with duct airflow.

Its housing measures less than two inches deep, making it suitable for installations with limited clearance. The clear removable cover provides access to the sensing chamber, terminals, filters, sampling tube, and exhaust tube without requiring specialized tools.
